Ava Maybee’s father, Chad Smith, has been married twice. From 1996 to 1997, Chad was married to Maria St. John, with whom he had one daughter.
On the other hand, Chad never married Ava’s mother, Trisha Cardoso.
Trisha Cardoso was the Executive Vice President of Showtime Networks, Inc. She served as the company’s Chief Press Officer and was in charge of all corporate and business press outreach on an international and national level.
Trisha currently serves on the UNICEF California Board of Directors and the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation’s board of directors.

Chad Smith married architect Nancy Mack, his second wife, in 2004. Smith and Nancy live in Malibu, California.
He, like many of his bandmates, has struggled with addiction. For many years, he battled alcoholism and cocaine addiction. In 2008, he entered a drug rehabilitation program.
Chad spent his early years in several rock bands, beginning in high school with a band called “Paradise,” with whom he won the Battle of the Bands in 1977.
